About six months ago, Mr. P, aged 49 yrs visited our clinic
with the complaint of Chronic Cough about a month. He was an Engineer from
Kerala working for Gail Project in Tamil Nadu. Since his arrival to Tamil Nadu,
he needs to take long travels for visiting the fields by two wheeler, which
made him to expose to dust continuosly. As a result, he has developed severe
cough. He was taking anti histamines, anti allergic drugs alongwith cough syrup
under medical guidance and found no permanent relief from his irritating cough.
Upon our examination, he had productive cough with yellow to
green sputum. No associated fever. Auscultation revealed coarse rhonchi and
wheezes. We found it is not season oriented. Our clinical study is suggestive
of ‘Allergic Bronchitis’
We have started Ayurvedic
management for the condition. The treatment included uro abhyanga and
oral medication for a week. At the end of the course, his cough has been
completely subsided which left him with a clear chest.
Almost a month later, he came back to say that he was able
to complete his project in the Kumbakonam suburbs, absolutely cough free!
