Spine & Disc Pains

One of our strength is Pain Management. Whatever the origin may be – Muscular, Nerve or Bone and how chronic or severe, it may be, our integrative treatment can relieve it to the possible extent.

As  we are experts in pain management, we used to get lot of pain suffering patients. In our observation, the pain of the majority of patients is associated with SPINE, which is nothing but the result of modern lifestyle and food style.

In this post, I am compiling the study of three patients, who came in with severe pain, originated from the Lumbar (Low back) part of the Spine.

Case No:1
42 yrs old lady, Mrs. L, residing in Bharath Nagar, Kumbakonam, working in the office of Agricultural engineering visited us with the constant pain in both of the legs since 3 yrs. She could hardly stand 2 minutes, in a single stretch. She had treatment with city’s well known Orthopedician  for a long time. Pain was off with medication and on when stopped. As a final solution, the specialist advised her for a spinal surgery in his hospital (which is known for its’ love). Hearing this, shocked lady and her husband, started searching for alternative medicines, tried Siddha with many Doctors is of no use, landed in a renowned Ayurvedic Centre in John Selvaraj Nagar. Though Felt good with Ayurvedic medicines, the kashayams and arishtams, itself caused irritation and allergic and she renounced it. The main reason she has decided to undergo our treatment protocol is that our pain management is mainly based on external treatments, we give least preference to the internal medications. Her MRI stated “Loss of disc hydration at L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels. Diffuse annular bulge at L5-S1 level causing contact with anterior thecal sac and mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing”. Started with two weeks therapy program in Kerala Naturopathy Centre followed by two weeks rest. End of the course, she could stand comfortably for 30 minutes and the constant pain in the legs subsided completely. Alongwith her Blood sugar also, came back to normal.

Case No:2
33 yrs old lady, Mrs.A, from mothilal street consulted us with a long standing pain of about 10 yrs in the left side of the hip, radiates to the thigh, legs till toes. MRI reveals,”Mild L5-S1 intervertebral disc degeneration. Posterior annular bulge with concentric annular tear and postereo central protrusion of L5-S1 intervertebral disc causing antr. thecal sac indentation with bilateral mild S1 nerve root encroachment. Undergone two weeks therapy program and relieved of the pain completely, left the hospital with mild tenderness in the left hip.

Case No:3
Mrs. V, 32 yrs, from Ganesh Nagar, Muthpillai Mandapam, Kumbakonam, working as a Dietician in a reputed multi speciality hospital nearby, was suffering from constant pain in the lower back since 3 months, additionally she has developed a sharp burning pain in the right side of the buttock. This burning pain, bothered her daily activities to an extent that she used to get an episode of  sharp, excruciating pain which stands for 15 minutes, almost 10 times a day, during when she is completely out of control. She sought the help of the Ortho specialist in her own hospital. Upon careful investigation, she was given NSAIDS and Analgesics, which coudn’t settle her problem. As usual, she was advised to go for a surgery. That’s when, she called us to find out our treatment. She has undergone two weeks of therapy. By finishing the course, her excruciating pain episode, she suffered 10 times a day,  reduced to just one time in a day with 70% reduction in the intensity. Her back pain is completely resolved.
